Mount Asahi-dake/Hokkaido

Als ich gestern Abend meine Unterkunft am Fuße des Mt. Asahi-dake erreiche begrüßt mich dieses Haustier.

Es ist früherAbend als ich mein Ziel erreiche. Die Bergspitze hüllt sich in Wolken.
It's earlier in the evening when I reach my destination. The mountain top is covered in clouds.
Und das war die einzige Unterkunft, wo ich noch einen "leistbaren" Platz bekommen habe - im Hostel K-House Hokkaido.
And this is the only place, where I could get a "affordable" place - in the hostel K-House Hokkaido.
Das ist übrigens mein Einzelzimmer mit eigener Toilette.
By the way, this is my single room with its own toilet.
Der Grund warum ich dieses Hostel ausgesucht habe ist 1) ich konnte ein Einzelzimmer mit eigenem WC buchen 2) weil die einen Onsen mit Innen-/Aussenbereich haben 3) Frühstück inkludiert ist 4) der Preis OK ist und 5) ich dieses Hostel über www.booking.com direkt buchen konnte (Fotos vom Hostel).

Nach dem Frühstück fahre ich zur nahe gelegenen Seilahnstation.

Von der Bergstation kann man eine zirka 1 bis 1 1/2 stündigen Wanderung machen oder auf die Bergspitze in 2.290 Metern Seehöhe klettern. Das dauert dann so an die 4,5-6 Stunden - je nachdem wie trainiert man ist.
From the mountain station, you can do a 1 - 1 1/2 hour hike or climb to the top of the mountain at 2,290 meters above sea level. That takes around 4.5-6 hours - depending on how trained you are.
Ich mache zuerst die kleine Wanderung und bestaune den heißen Dampf, der aus dem Berg entweicht.
First I do the short hike and marvel at the hot steam that escapes from the mountain.
Und dann geht es rauf auf den Gipfel. Die Tour ist ganz schön anstrendend und zum Glück habe ich japanisches Überlebensfutter und genügend Wasser mit mir.
And then it goes up to the summit. The tour is pretty exhausting and luckily I have Japanese survival food and enough water with me.
Erschöpft erreiche ich nach 5 Stunden den Gipfel. Ich bin komplett ausgepowert. Der Gipfel liegt in einer Nebelwolke. nach einer ausreichenden Pause und Stärkung mache ich mich wieder auf den Rückweg. Es gäbe zwar noch eine zusätzliche Route mit einem Berg-Onsen - die schaffe ich heute aber nicht mehr.
Out of power I reach the summit after 5 hours. I am completely exhausted. The summit lies in a cloud of fog. After a long break and refreshment, I start my way back. There would be an additional route with a mountain onsen - but I can't do that anymore.
Als ich am Nachmittag das Hostel wieder erreiche, genehmige ich mir ein paar selbst mitgebrachte Bier und dann geht es in den Onsen. Nach der obligatorischen Ganzkörperreinigung geht es ins heiße Wasser.
When I get back to the hostel in the afternoon, I have a couple of beers I brought with me and then go to the onsen. After the obligatory full body cleansing, it goes into the hot water.
** Nachdem mir 2 Tage später das Handy weggeflogen ist, habe ich nur mehr sehr wenige Fotos von mir selber, die ich durch Fotos aus dem Internet ergänzt habe.
** After my cell phone flew away two days later, I only have very few photos of myself, which I have supplemented with photos from the Internet.
