DAS BLUMENMEER VON FURANO / FURANO`S SEA OF FLOWERS

Furano/Hokkaido - Asahidake Onsen/Hokkaido

Heute geht es nach Furano, oder genauer gesagt nach Nakafurano - einem kleinen Ort etwas nördlich von Furano. Hier befindet sich die berühmteste Farm Japans - "Farm Tomita".

Today, Furano is on the map, exactly it is Nakafurano, a small village, north of Furano. There you find the most famous farm of Japan - "Farm Tomita".

Am Weg zur Tomota Farm gibt es lange Staus. Tausende von Besuchern versuchen von allen Richtungen die Farm zu erreichen. Am Weg zur Farm sehe ich schon eines der ersten Blumenfelder.

There are long traffic jams on the way to Tomita Farm. Thousands of visitors try to reach the farm from all directions. On the way to the farm, I can already see one of the first flower fields.

Ich erreiche die Farm und parke außerhalb. Hier befindet sich ein großer Gastronomiebereich, der mit der Farm selber nichts zu tun hat.

I arrive at the farm and park outside. There are a big restaurant area that has nothing to do with the farm.

Ich überquere die Hauptstraße und betrete die ersten Lavendelfelder.

I cross the street and enter the first lavender fields.

Von einer Aussichtsplattform hat man einen noch besseren Blick auf die Felder.

From a viewing platform, you have an even better view of the fields.

Im hinteren Bereich der Aussichtsplattform befindet sich ein Shop in dem alle möglichen Lavendel-Produkte angeboten werden.

In the rear area of the observation deck, there is a shop in which all possible lavender products are offered.

Ein kleines Fläschchen Lavendelöl gibt es ab YEN 4.500,- / U$ 42,- / € 36,-. Lavendel Eis gibt es ab YEN 250,- / U$ 2,40 / € 2,00.

A small bottle of lavender oil is available for YEN 4,500 / U $ 42,- / € 36,-. Lavender ice cream is available from YEN 250, - / U $ 2.40 / € 2.00.

Es sind tausende Leute, die die Blumenfelder bestaunen.

There are thousands of people who marvel at the flower fields.

Das ganze ist wie ein großer Erlebnispark ohne Eintrittsgebühr aber mit jeder Menge Shops.

The whole thing is like a big adventure park with no entrance fee but with a lot of shops.

Die Destilieranlage. Hier wird das kostbare Lavendelöl gewonnen.

The distillation plant. This is where precious lavender oil is extracted.

Neben den Lavendel Beeten gibt es auch andere Blumenbeete.

Besides the lavender beds, there are also other flower beds.

Ich genehmige mir ein Lavendeleis und dann geht es auch schon weiter, zum höchsten Berg von Hokkaido, dem Mt. Asahi-dake.

I enjoy lavender ice cream and then I am on my way to the highest mountain in Hokkaido, Mt. Asahi-dake.

DAS GEHEIMNIS DER "HOKAIDO DAIKANNON" / THE SECRET OF THE "HOKAIDO DAIKANNON"

Die aufregendsten Momente meiner Motorradreisen waren immer folgende, wenn plötzlich etwas aufgetaucht ist, womit ich nicht gerechnet habe. Heute ist genau so etwas passiert. 

The most exciting moments of my motorcycle trips were always the following when something suddenly appeared that I didn't expect. Something like that happened today. 

Es ist knapp vor 10 Uhr, als ich in Sapporo aufbreche.

It is short to 10 am as I am leaving Sapporo.

Mein Google Maps am Handy funtioniert nicht mehr und so muss ich mir die Route zusammenschreiben.

My google maps is not working anymore - so I have to write my route down.

Mein Ziel ist der Asahidake Onsen in den Bergen. Am Weg dorthin beschließe ich Furano zu besichtigen und biege von der Autobahn bei Takikawa ab. 24 Kilometer später, in der Ortschaft Ashibetsu sehe ich sie plötzlich.
My goal is the Asahidake Onsen in the mountains. On the way there I decide to visit Furano and turn off the highway at Takikawa. Suddenly, 24 kilometers later, in Ashibets, I see her.

Das muss ich mir genauer anschauen. Ich überquere die Brücke über den Sorachi Fluss und sehe diese komischen Gebäude. Was ist das, frage ich mich?
I have to check this out. I cross the bridge over the Sorachi river and see this scary buildings. What is this?

Die Türen sind versperrt. Durch das Fliegengitter in der Türe des Kuppelgebäudes kann ich ein Foto schießen. Innen sieht es gespenstisch aus - könnte eine Szene aus einem James Bond Film sein. Wasserbehälter, Figuren, Schläuche...
The doors are locked. I can take a photo through the grille in the door of the domed building. It looks spooky inside - could be a set from a James Bond movie. Water tanks, figures, hoses ...

Ich versuche einen Eingang zu finden und gehe das Gebäude ab.
I try to find an entrance and walk around the building.

Auf der Rückseite finde ich ein offenes Tor. Das muss ich mir genauer ansehen.

I find an open gate on the back. I have to take a closer look at that.

Ich betrete die Anlage. Was für eine schöne Pagode, denke ich mir. Zu meiner rechten Seite steht dieser rote Camper. Der muss wohl dem Sektenführer gehören.

I enter the area. What a beautiful pagoda, I think to myself. To my right is this red camper. It must belong to the cult leader.

Plötzlich spüre ich diese Energie. Ich betrachte die Torii, die sich aneinander reihen und den Zugang zum Schrein andeuten.
Suddenly I feel this energy. I look at the torii that lineup and indicate access to the shrine.

Hoffentlich begegne ich keinem dieser grimmigen Gesellen.

I hope to not meet one of these grumpy figures.

Angeblich wurden diese Gebäude als Hotel geplant, das dann aber nie wirklich funktioniert hat.
Allegedly, these buildings were planned as a hotel, but it never really worked.

So sieht das ganze aus der Luft aus. Eine große Anlage.
This is how it looks from the air. A huge facility.

Irgendwie hat sich dieser Zigarettenautomat an diese heilige Stätte verirrt.
Somehow this cigarette machine found a place on this holy place.

Ich bin begeistert. So eine große Anlage habe ich noch nie gesehen.
I'm excited. I have never seen such a large system.

Plötzlich höre ich Stimmen vom Eingangstor. Die suchen mich bereits und wollen mich den Schlangen zum Fraß vorwerfen.
Suddenly I hear voices from the ate. They're already looking for me and want to feed me to the snakes.

Ich verstecke mich und kann irgendwie entkommen.
I hide and can somehow escape.

Aber es ist noch nicht vorbei.Ich muss ja auch noch die Riesenstatue erkunden. Wie sich später rausstellt ist dies mit 88 Metern Höhe, eine der 10 größten Statuen in der Welt - genannt "Hokkaido Daikannon" oder "Dai Kannon of Kita no Miyako park".
But it's not over yet, I still have to explore the giant statue. As it turns out later, at 88 meters high, this is one of the 10 largest statues in the world - called "Hokkaido Daikannon" or "Dai Kannon of Kita no Miyako park".

Ich fahre ein Runde herum und finde den Zugang, der blockiert ist. Kein Problem für mich und meine Honda Africa Twin. Alles ist verlassen. Kein Mensch ist weit und breit zu sehen.
I drive around and find the access that is blocked. No problem for me and my Honda Africa Twin. Everything is abandoned. No one can be seen far and wide.

Ich bin schwer beeindruckt.

I am quiet impressed.

Die Statue wurde 1975 zu planen begonnen und 1989 fertig gestellt. 1990 kollabierte die japanische Wirtschaft, mit Folgen bis heute.
The planning began in 1975 and was completed in 1989. The Japanese economy collapsed in 1990, with consequences to this day.

Was für ein geheimnisvoller Platz.
What a secret place.

Um das ganze zu verdauen, fahre ich weiter nach Furano und bestelle mir bei Mc Donalds einen japanischen Big Mäc.
To digest the whole thing, I drive on to Furano and order a Japanese Big Mäc from Mc Donalds.

In stundenlangen Recherchen bekomme ich Bruchstücke an Informationen raus. Es ist von einem Hotel die Rede. Ein Konkurs 2013 und einer Sekte, einem Tentoku Institut als neuen Eigentümer. 20 Ebenen soll die Statue im Inneren haben, sowie einen Lift. Viele Fragen aber bleiben unbeantwortet...

In hours of research, I get fragments of information. There is talk of a hotel. A bankruptcy in 2013 and a sect, a Tentoku Institute as a new owner. The statue should have 20 levels inside, as well as an elevator. Many questions remain unanswered ...
