Potosi hat 168.448 Einwohner und liegt am Fuße des Berges Cerro Rico, dessen Silberreichtum die Stadt im frühen 17. Jahrhundert zu einer der größten Städte der Welt machte. Potosi hat aber auch eine grausame Vergangenheit, von der kam jemand etwas weiss.

Potosi has 168 448 inhabitants and lies at the foot of the mountain Cerro Rico. His silver has grown up the city to one of the largest cities in the world in the early 17th century. Potosi also has a terrible past from which the most people know nothing about it.

Potosí cuenta con 168 448 habitantes y se encuentra al pie de la montaña de Cerro Rico. La plata ha crecido la ciudad a una de las ciudades más grandes del mundo en el siglo 17. Potosí también tiene un pasado terrible de la que la mayoría de la gente no sabe nada al respecto.

Ich werde mit Peter heute diesem Geheimnis auf die Spur gehen. Zuvor gibt es ein ordentliches Frühstück im Hostel. Wir werden alle im Hostel eingekleidet und dann fahren wir den Berg hoch. Dann geht es ans Geschenke kaufen. Feleipe erklärt uns, dass wir den Bergleuten etwas mitbringen - sozusagen ein paar Freundschaftsgeschenke.Was das genau ist, werden wir gleich erfahren.

The 'Mercado de los Mineros', the market of the miners is the only market in the world where you can buy high explosive legal. Peter is not that scary. But he has another problem - he does not feel well in tight spaces.

Weiter geht es mit dem Bus auf den Silberberg. Felipe übergibt gleich ein paar Sackerl mit Kokablättern an die Minenarbeiter. Koka wird hier ständig gekaut. Dadurch haben die Minenarbeiter keinen Hunger.
